In her biography, “Mother Courage,” Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro says that the star athlete was “an unwanted child,” and she asked doctors to abort him. The doctors, however, refused her request, so she attempted a self-induced abortion. Today, the thirty-five year old Portuguese striker is one of the greatest sportsman the world has ever seen.
In her biography, Ronaldo‘s mum explains that she drank boiled black beer and ran until she felt like she would drop. Obviously her plan failed and today she says, “Everything I have, I owe to [Cristiano].”
Eventually, Ronaldo would learn that his mother tried to end his life while he was in the womb, but he’s the only one who truly knows how much that knowledge has affected him. His mother says he has only joked about it, telling her: “Look mum, you wanted to abort and now I’m the one who’s pulling the purse-strings in the house.”
CR7 (as Ronaldo is often called) recently turned thirty five and continues to write the history of his sport. He scored more than 700 goals in his career from which an astonishing 127 in the Champions League, which is an all time record. The Portuguese striker also played for some the best football clubs in the world including Manchester United (84 goals), Real Madrid (311 goals) and now Juventus.
Ronaldo is also a superstar outside the pitch. He is by far the most followed football player on social media and remains an inspiration for millions of football fans all around the globe.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother: I wanted an abortion, but God said no

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has revealed how close she came to having an abortion when pregnant with the Portuguese superstar.
Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro said he was an “unwanted baby”, but her faith in God meant she refused to go through with the termination. She first announced her dilemma in her 2014 autobiography - then claiming that doctors would not allow her to go through with the procedure.
She spoke candidly in 'Ronaldo', an upcoming documentary film showing the rise of her son to becoming a three-time Ballon d’Or winner
"He is a child that I wanted to abort," she said. "God didn’t want that to happen and I was blessed because of that and God didn’t punish me.
"Sometimes Ronaldo makes fun of me and says: 'You didn’t want me to be born. But now you see that I’m here helping all of you.' And, well, sometimes we have a laugh about that."

The film portrays Ronaldo as a staunch family man, with particular focus on his relationship with his five-year-old son, Cristiano Jr.
Ronaldo’s own father, Dinis, died aged 53 in 2005. He was an alcoholic – something that caused immense strain on the family.
"I cried every day," said Ronaldo. "People say we have money and cars but we suffered."
He added: "He would drink nearly every day. It frustrates me that he was never able to see my successes."
'Ronaldo' is released in UK cinemas on Monday.
